Every great Christmas Tree has a mix of elements to give it depth and interest.Garlands and ribbon should be the first layer on your tree. Garlands could be made of anything strung on a string, from simple popcorn and cranberries to garlands of beads and glass, depending on the size of your tree, most garlands come in 6-9′ lengths, so you will need several for a full sized tree. Don’t be afraid to mix and match multiple garlands on a tree. Garland can be draped horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, depending on how heavy or garland is, and how sturdy your tree limbs are, I usually see how well it is laying on the tree and adjust where needed. Ribbons could be hung now as well, if my tree topper will consist of ribbon, then I will weave from the top and work down, creating what I need for the topper. Simple craft ribbon or beautiful wired ribbon, the weight and feel of the ribbon will determine what you can do with it on your tree.If you are having trouble, remember that simple ribbon bows will always work and can be individually placed on the tree. Use some creativity, this will take some practice, but just have fun and enjoy the process!
